Gwent batted first with openers Jess Thornton & Charlotte Scarborough scoring 51 for the first wicket. Sophie Osborn, with a hard hitting 32no and Megan Simkins 20no took the Gwent score to 116 in their allotted 25 overs.

In reply, Pembrokeshire were always behind the required run rate, but batted gallantly to reach 80-5 in their 25 overs, leaving the Gwent Girls winners by 36 runs.  Jess Thornton was the pick of the bowlers with 2 wickets for 9 runs.

Gwent batted first and were always in control. Sophie Osborn, with an excellent 55no, led the way and with captain, Charlotte Scarborough 36no, they added  129 for the 2nd wicket.

The Gwent total of 155-2 was a daunting task for West Glamorgan, but Ashley Griffiths 19 and Rachel Davies 33 added 56 for the first wicket before Griffiths was brilliantly run out, with a direct hit by Megan Simkins. Once the opening partnership was broken, Gwent assumed control restricting West Glamorgan to 104-4, eventually winning by 51 runs.

Carmarthenshire

Gwent Girls proved too strong for the enthusiastic Carmarthen team and despite losing an early wicket, Jess Thornton and Megan Simkins took the Gwent score to 55-2 before Jess Thornton was out for a good 24.  Aimee Watson joined Simkins in a match winning 4th wicket partnership, with both girls playing superb shots to all parts of the groundThey put on a stunning partnership of 94 runs, which was only broken by the retirement of Simkins for an excellent 52. Watson went on to complete her fifty off the last ball of the innings, while Amy Harris also batted well in scoring an unbeaten 20.

In reply, Carmarthen were soon in trouble losing early wickets, Caitie Lake claiming two and Charlotte Mould one as they fell to 15 for 3. However, the innings was in tatters as Lizzie Protheroe claimed a hat trick in her first over. At 15 for 6 there was no recovery and Carmarthen were eventually all out for just 36 runs, with Nicol Helkvist taking two wickets, leaving Gwent Girls winners by 164 runs.

The two unbeaten teams finally met, but it was the Gwent Girls who dominated the game from start to finish. An opening partnership of 41 between Aimee Watson (12) and Megan Simkins (19) set the foundation to the innings. Sophie Osborn 26 and captain, Charlotte Scarborough, with an excellent 51 continued the run flow to take the Gwent Girls to a good 168-6 in 35 overs.

Cardiff & Vale soon lost wickets in reply, but J.Tidball (21) was proving a thorn in the side of the Gwent Girls, playing some excellent shots. However, the game dramatically swung Gwent Girls’ way with the introduction of Jess Thornton and Lauren Chambers into the attack. Thornton claiming 3-18 and Chambers 4-4 as Cardiff & Vale were all out for 78, leaving Gwent Girls winners by 90 runs
