Gwent batted first and progressed steadily after the loss of an early wicket and Georgia Parfitt and Ella Reed put on 30 for the second.  Megan Simkins then joined Reed to put on a further 29.  At 75 for 3, Sophie Osborne joined Reed and they went on to an undefeated partnership of 98. Osborne finished on 22 not out and Reed on 76 not out. This was a fine performance by Ella and her highest score to date.  She faced just 85 balls and scored 11 boundaries.

Two early wickets left Cardiff & Vale on the back foot but A Brennan and E Powell then put on 94 for the third wicket.  After the twenty-over drinks break, however, Ella Reed struck with two wickets in an over including Brennan for 38.  Powell tried to up the run-rate but she was eventually out in the last over for a fine 51.  Reed and Thea Huckle were the pick of the bowlers but all the girls can be proud of their performances.  The Gwent fielders put on a good show with two run-outs, by Emily-Mae Herring and Sophie Osborn, and a catch by captain Rose Evans.

Carmarthenshire

37 all out

207 for 6 Gwent won

by 170 runs

As Gwent arrived at the ground the sun was shining but the pitch was very green and soft from heavy rain previous day. Carmarthenshire won the toss and, not surprisingly, put Gwent into bat.  Ella Reed and Rose Evans opened the batting well, considering the conditions, and put on a partnership of 73 runs when Evans was bowled for 16.  Reed went on to score 31 before being caught and this brought Charlotte Scarborough and Megan Simkins together with 92 scored off 13 overs. They both batted very well on the tough surface creating a 60-run partnership when Simkins was caught for 22 and Scarborough went on to score 44, a new personal best. After 35 overs a considerable total had been achieved in spite of the conditions.

Thea Huckle opened the bowling well with a maiden over. Sophie Osborn came on from the other end and began with a double wicket maiden.  They both continued to bowl very well with Huckle taking 2 for 5 in 4.2 overs and Osborn a remarkable 4 for 0 in 4 overs.  Megan Simkins and Amy Harris were then brought into the attack, conceding just four runs between them in 6 overs with Harris also taking 2 wickets, one of which was caught by Evans.  The bowlers were well supported in the field with only three runs of the Carmarthenshire total coming off the bat.

Best Performances:  Charlotte Scarborough 44, Ella Reed 31, Sophie Osborn 4-0, Amy Harris 2-2, Thea Huckle 2-5
