West Glamorgan

58 for 1

56 for 3 West Glamorgan won by 9 wkts

Gwent Girls were put into bat on a good batting wicket, but were tied down against a very good West Glamorgan opening attack of A.Griffiths and Madison. Although keeping wickets intact, after 10 overs, Gwent had scored just 21-0. Runs continued to be difficult to score, but a flurry of runs towards the end of the innings took the Gwent score to 56-3 after the allotted 20 overs.

West Glamorgan, despite a few early scares, were always in command.  With A.Griffiths (31no) striking the ball well, they eased past the Gwent Girls total in 9 overs only losing the one wicket.

Cardiff & Vale

94 for 2

100 for 4 Gwent won

by 6 runs

Cardiff & Vale Girls won the toss and put Gwent Girls in to bat. The Gwent Girls learnt their lessons from the previous match running well between the wickets to keep the score rate up, and after 5 overs were on 25-1. Amy Harris played some nice shots but was soon out for 9. Paige Curtis (6) and Amy Evans (6) took the total to 59-2 off 12 overs, but when Molly Cooper came in the run rate increased further, with Molly playing some beautiful shots, scoring 16no as the Gwent Girls innings closed on 100-4 off 20 overs.

Two early wickets by Ellie Hurved, set Cardiff & Vale back in their reply as they fell to 21-2 off 7 overs. However, Lori Matthews and Sej led a thrilling fight back taking the score to 80-2 off 18 overs. With 20 runs needed off the last 2 overs the game was in the balance. 14 runs were needed off the final over, but it proved just too much for the Cardiff & Vale team as they fell an agonising 6 runs short, finishing on 94-2, in a scintillating run chase. Lori Matthews finishing on 23no.
