 Sudbrook

285 - 3

231-6

Sudbrook won by 69 runs (net)

The first hard-ball match for most of the players.  They bowled and fielded well but found batting difficult against good strong bowling from an unbeaten team.

Emily P and Christina both took two wickets while Nicole took one.

 Ebbw Vale

250-2

247-4

Ebbw Vale won by 13 runs (net)

Another good bowling and fielding performance.  Some good defensive batting but a few more attacking shots against bad balls and the game might have been won.

Bethan took a wicket and there was one run-out.

 Croesyceiliog

255 - 6

239 - 5

Croesyceiliog won by 11 runs (net)

The Girls continue to bowl and field well and, for the first time, took more wickets than the opposition.  They also tried to play their shots but the damp nature of the wicket made this difficult for both sides.

Bethan took two wickets and Ffion, Olivia, Nicole and Ellis one each.

Usk

275 - 6

254 - 3

Usk won      by 6 runs  (net)

A tremendous match with the result in doubt right up to the very last ball. The Girls continue to bowl and field well; as in the last game they again took more wickets than the opposition.  They are also beginning to score more runs but not quite enough.

Ffion batted and bowled well, taking two wickets.  The other wickets went to Olivia, Bethan and Harriet who also had a direct-hit run-out.

Chepstow

298-5

289-2

Gwent Girls won by 6 runs (net)

Another exciting match going down to the last ball.  A good batting performance with Harriet and Nicole putting on 26 in the opening pairing and the rest losing just two wickets between them.  For the third game running the Girls took more wickets than the opposition supported by good fielding.  The turning point in the match was when Ffion and Georgia combined in a superb run-out in the last over as Chepstow were closing in on victory.

Harriet and Nicole batted well.  Christina took 2 wickets and Ffion, Bethan and Nicole one each.

Pontnewynydd

260-8

264-4

Gwent Girls won by 24 runs (net)

Another excellent bowling and fielding performance saw the Girls through to their second successive victory.  Harriet and Nicole got us off to our customary good start but the last two pairs lost four wickets.

Harriet, Ellis and Emily P took two wickets apiece while Nicole took one. Georgia kept particularly well considering we only had seven fielders and couldn't afford to give her close cover.

Newport

252 - 5

266-5

Gwent Girls won by 14 runs

The Girls continued their winning ways in a game played in very damp conditions.  Newport were ahead when their last pair went to the wicket but some good bowling by Ffion and Ellis supported by good fielding saw the Girls take four wickets in the last two overs.

Ffion, Nicole and Ellis each took one wicket and Ellis had two direct-hit run-outs.

Croesyceiliog

275 - 5

287-3

Gwent Girls won by 22 runs

The Girls maintained their high standard of bowling and fielding with Emily P making a direct-hit run-out.  The first three pairs batted sensibly to make 50 runs for the loss of 2 wickets.  Harriet and Ffion then set about the bowling and reached a partnership total of 47 for the loss of one wicket.

Harriet and Ffion both scored 15 (with Ffion out once), Ffion took 2 wickets and Christina and Ellis one each.
